Privacy Policy
Effective August 17, 2026
- Your raw recordings never reach our servers. Audio and video you capture during an interview live only in your browser, on your device. We cannot play them, read them, or recover them.
- What you do with your recordings and films is entirely your choice. Download them and they are yours; clear your browser data without downloading and they are gone — including from us, because we never had them.
- We store the finished article (your record's text) so your library and share links work — unless you mark a record "Keep private," in which case nothing about it leaves your device.
- We never sell your data and never use it for advertising. We don't train AI models on your content, and we configure our AI providers not to either — the one exception is your own voice clone, which exists precisely to build your private voice model at your request, and which you can delete at any time.
1. Who we are
The Living Record is operated by AxiomX LLC ("we," "us") — a service that turns a guided interview into a written article, narrated audio, and an optional interview film. Questions about this policy — or any privacy request — reach us through the contact form.
2. What stays on your device
The following are created and kept only in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on the device you used. They are never uploaded to or stored on our servers:
- Audio and video recordings of your interview answers;
- The composed interview film (MP4/WebM);
- In-progress interview drafts;
- Records you mark "Keep private" — their text included.
This means responsibility for keeping them is yours. Download your film and recordings promptly after creating them. If you clear browser data, use private browsing, switch devices, or your device fails, on-device content is permanently lost. We are not a backup service and cannot restore what we never received.
Two transient exceptions, both processing-only: (a) answer audio is transmitted to a speech-to-text provider to produce your transcript, processed in memory and not stored by us; (b) if you choose the photo-film style, your photo and answer audio are transmitted to our video-rendering provider to produce each lip-synced clip, and the finished clip is returned to your browser. We store neither.
3. What we store, and why
- Account basics — name, email, sign-in identity, and account status (new accounts are reviewed before AI features unlock).
- Your record's article — the title and finished text of records you create (not marked private), so your library, sharing, and search work across devices. Your raw Q&A conversation is not stored on our servers.
- Narrated audio — if you generate narration, the audio file is kept so your share links and podcast feed can serve it.
- Profile photo — if you save one to your profile, we keep it until you remove it. (A photo chosen only for a single interview is streamed to the renderer per clip and not stored by us.)
- Voice clone reference — if you create a voice clone, the voice model lives with our voice-synthesis provider (see §4); we store only its identifier. Delete it any time in Profile → Voice, which deletes the model.
- Billing ledger — credits purchased and spent. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
Deleting a record removes it from our servers. Server data may persist for a limited period in routine encrypted backups before cycling out.
4. Processors we use
We use a small set of specialist processors, each only for its function: AI language models that turn your words into questions and articles; a voice-synthesis provider for narration and voice clones; a video-rendering provider for photo avatars; speech-to-text providers for transcription; a PCI-compliant payment processor (card details never touch our servers); and an email delivery provider. If you explicitly connect them, your chosen cloud-storage, video-hosting, or book-printing service processes what you send it. Our AI processors act on your content solely to deliver your output; we configure them not to use it for general model training where such controls are offered, and we never train models on your content ourselves.
5. What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information — to anyone, ever;
- Use your content or recordings for advertising or profiling;
- Train our own AI models on your content, or knowingly permit our providers to use it for general model training (your personal voice clone — a model of your voice built at your request and deletable by you — is the deliberate exception);
- Store your raw interview recordings on our servers.
6. Your rights and choices
You can export your records (article, audio, JSON) at any time from each record's Share tab. You may request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of your account data via the contact form — we honor these rights for everyone, including rights under GDPR and the CCPA. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA. Deleting your account removes your stored articles, narration, profile photo, and voice-clone model.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies only: keeping you signed in and securing the session. No third-party advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers.
8. Age
The service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has used the service, contact us and we will delete the account.
9. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Stored data lives on access-controlled infrastructure with routine encrypted backups. No method is perfectly secure — which is one more reason the most sensitive artifacts, your recordings, are designed never to reach us at all.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above; material changes will be flagged in the product. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
